As I am reading JB Phillips’ translation of the New Testament (Revised) into Modern English and will not have my large Bible with me, I have written some Old Testament words of encouragement on the fly-leaves. Here they are. May God bless you as you read them.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with your whole heart and lean not unto your own understanding...
Ps 46:1,2 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble. Therefore, I will not fear.
Ps 121:2 My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth...
Nahum 1:7 The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble. And he knows those who trust in him.
Ps 23:1-4,6 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul, he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. Your rod and staff comfort me. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Ps 4:6 I will both lay me down and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makes me dwell in safety.
