When our All-knowing, Almighty God created man in his image, he already knew what would happen, and so he planned Easter and Christmas to rescue fallen humanity.
I have written many new tunes for well-known Easter hymns, hymns we love to sing every year. Modern Easter hymns are not included because of strict copyright rules: composers can only write new tunes for hymns that are in the public domain, and there are plenty of them! However, there is one modern one, written by myself, so I own the copyright of CHRIST IS RISEN SAID THE ANGEL!
Many were written by clergymen, some great ones by women, others by laymen and scholars, one by a self-educated man who started as a farm labourer when he was 12 and rose to fame in the Moody meetings, and the earliest one by Anulf of Leuven (1250) who wrote a long poem in Latin describing the body parts of our Lord. O SACRED HEAD NOW WOUNDED has become one of the great Easter hymns.
